The weekend came to a close with a stunning string of news. On Friday, the ones in the know, were eagerly watching the outcome in the North West coast of the island, with news going down the grapevines that security forces were advancing towards Pooneryn. It was then the most unexpected happened in Colombo. The confidentially trusted buddy of Eastern Province Chief Minister, Ragu and his driver were gunned down in broad daylight in Oruwela, Aturugiriya, on the main road. Kumaraswamy Nandagopan referred to in his alias as Ragu had been a naturalized citizen in the "Down Under" after he fled the country with the collapse of the Indian intervened NE provincial council of Varatharajah Perumal in 1990.
